Understanding Profiles: Personal vs. Organization

Written by Sophie
Updated this week

Before managing your team, it’s essential to understand that Octoparse AI operates with two distinct types of profiles. Think of them as two parallel spaces that do not overlap:

  • Personal Profile (Private Space): A private area for your individual tasks. No one else can see your apps or data here.

  • Organization Profile (Team Space): A collaborative workspace for teams. Apps, credits, and subscriptions are managed collectively.

Subscription & Credits: Where is my Plan?

One of the most common questions is: "I just upgraded, why am I still on a Free plan?"

  • The Answer: In Octoparse AI, subscriptions (Pro/Enterprise) and Platform Credits are typically bound to the Organization Profile.

  • Logic: If you purchased a team plan, the benefits will only appear when you are switched into that specific Organization Profile. Your Personal Profile will remain on the "Free" version.

Data Isolation: Where are my Apps?

  • Private stays Private: Apps created in your Personal Profile are invisible to your organization.

  • Organization Assets: Apps created within the Organization Profile can be shared and managed among team members (based on permissions).

  • Moving Apps: If you need to move an app from your Personal Profile to the Team space, you must use the [Share to Organization] feature.

How to Switch Between Profiles

Navigating between your private and team spaces is simple:

  1. Locate the Avatar: In the top-left corner of the Octoparse AI client, click on your profile icon.

  2. Switch Account/Organization: In the dropdown menu, you will see a list of organizations you belong to.

  3. Check the Status: Once switched, you can click on the avatar at the bottom-left to confirm you are in the correct workspace.
